Target Milestones
Milestones are interim checkpoints on the journey to your long-term emissions reduction target. They keep your team accountable year-by-year and provide evidence of consistent progress for auditors and frameworks like CDP, TCFD and SBTi.
What a milestone contains

| Allowed tCO₂e | Automatically calculated from base year and reduction % |
| Label | Optional descriptive name (e.g. "SBTi 2030 near-term") |
| Status | Calculated: On Track / At Risk / Achieved / Missed |
| Evidence | Attached documents supporting the milestone claim |
Adding milestones to a target
- Open the target → Milestones tab
- Click Add Milestone
- Enter the milestone year and required reduction %
- Optionally add a label
- Save
You can add up to 20 milestones per target. Milestones must be in chronological order between base year and target year.
Automatic milestones
When you select a linear or SBTi trajectory model, AlchemOS Positive can generate milestones automatically:
- Annual — one milestone per year
- 5-year — milestones every 5 years
- Custom — define the interval
Click Generate Milestones to preview and then create the full set in one step. You can delete or adjust individual milestones afterwards.
Milestone status logic
Status is calculated automatically each time you view the target:

|---|---|
| Future | Milestone year is in the future and current trajectory appears on track |
| On Track | Milestone year reached; actual emissions ≤ allowed tCO₂e |
| At Risk | Milestone year is approaching (within 12 months) and current run-rate is above the pathway |
| Achieved | Milestone year reached; actual emissions ≤ allowed tCO₂e + optional verification attached |
| Missed | Milestone year passed; actual emissions > allowed tCO₂e |
Marking a milestone as verified
Once a milestone is Achieved, you can attach verification evidence:
- Open the milestone row → Verify Milestone
- Add evidence documents (audit reports, third-party verification letters, registry screenshots)
- Enter a verification note
- Click Save Verification
Verified milestones display a verification badge and appear as confirmed checkpoints in CDP, TCFD and GRI reports.
Milestone notifications
Go to Settings → Notifications to configure alerts:

| Milestone approaching | 90, 60 and 30 days before milestone year end |
| Milestone at risk | Current run-rate projects miss by > 10 % |
| Milestone missed | Year end date passed with emissions above pathway |
| Milestone achieved | Year end date passed with emissions below pathway |
Exporting milestone data
From the Milestones tab, click Export CSV to download all milestone data including:
- Year, label, required %, allowed tCO₂e, actual tCO₂e, status, verification status
