Setting Sustainability Targets
AlchemOS Positive helps you define, track and demonstrate progress against emissions reduction targets — whether you are following SBTi methodology, making a net-zero pledge or setting internal short-term reduction goals.
Target types

Creating a target
Navigate to Goals → Targets → New Target.
Step 1 — Target basics

Step 2 — Base year

| Base year emissions | tCO₂e total (auto-populated from imported data if available) |

Step 3 — Target year and reduction

| Reduction % | E.g. 50 % reduction vs base year |
| Trajectory model | Linear / Front-loaded / Custom annual milestones |
For a linear trajectory, AlchemOS Positive calculates the required annual reduction automatically. For a custom trajectory, define the allowed tCO₂e for each year in the milestone table.
Step 4 — Milestones
Add interim milestones to track progress at consistent checkpoints:
- Click Add Milestone
- Enter the milestone year and required % reduction at that point
- Optionally add a label (e.g., "SBTi near-term 2030 target")
Viewing target progress
Go to Goals → Targets and click a target name to see:
Progress gauge
A visual gauge showing position between base year and target year with an indicator for where you should be now (linear trajectory line).
Annual emissions vs pathway chart
Year-by-year bar chart overlaid with the allowed trajectory line. Green bars = on track, orange = slightly above pathway, red = significantly above.
Milestones table
Each milestone with status: On track / At risk / Missed.
SBTi target configuration
For SBTi-aligned targets, select the applicable validation type:

| SBTi Corporate Net-Zero Standard | Near-zero by 2050, with residual offset |
AlchemOS Positive calculates the allowed annual emissions budget automatically.
Net-zero configuration
For a net-zero target, configure:
- Residual emissions level — the tCO₂e you plan to offset rather than eliminate (typically ≤ 10 % of base year for SBTi)
- Offset strategy — Removal only / Avoidance + Removal / Any verified credits
- Offset sourcing link — Optionally link to offset projects in the marketplace
Sharing targets externally
Go to the target page → Actions → Publish Target Page. This generates a public URL at alchemos.io/org/{yourorg}/targets/{slug} showing real-time progress. Useful for investor and customer transparency.
